INTERBUS Profiles

red linered line
The members of the INTERBUS Club compile the profiles in several User Groups. More efficient and flexible systems are increasingly required in industrial sensor and actuator technology within the scope of factory automation. Their full integration in complex production processes, however, requires open, standardized communication.

The basic aim of open systems is to allow the exchange of information between application functions implemented on devices made by different manufacturers. This includes fixed application functions, a uniform user interface for communication and a uniform transmission medium. To enable the definition of device functions independent of the communication medium, the standardized user interface conforming to DIN 19245 Part 2 has been used for communication. This provided a direct link to Manufacturing Message Specification (MMS). For the user, this profile definition is a useful supplement to standardized communication and provides a generally valid model for data content and device behavior. These function definitions standardize some essential device parameters. As a result, devices from different manufacturers exhibit the same behavior on the communication medium and can be exchanged without altering the application software when these standard parameters are used.
