Unlimited and transparent communication plays an important role for future automation solutions. For this reason one will even more profit from the Ethernet and Internet technologies known from the Office area in automation solutions. By integrating a TCP/IP channel into the hybrid INTERBUS protocol, the basis for the continuous communication of field devices throughout the office area or even into the internet has been created. An application example: the Web-based Management: Both simple field devices as well as intelligent modules as for example robots or frequency converters could be operated or parameterized at any place via standard browsers.
